This report corrects errors in the triangular patch subdivision scheme described by the same authors [ibid. 4, 279-295 (1987; Zbl 0638.65006)]. In the original paper a process for replacing a quartic triangular Gregory patch with three \(G^ 1\) continuous Bézier subpatches has been presented. The conditions for geometric continuity between quartic triangular patches [see \textit{G. Farin}, Comput. Graphics Image Process. 20, 272-282 (1982; Zbl 0541.65006)] imply that on the patch boundaries quartic control points of degree-elevated cubic boundaries are to be used instead of cubic control points. Furthermore, an improvement of a quadrilateral subdivision scheme discussed in the same paper is presented.
