Developable surfaces [surfaces which are composed of cylinders, cones, and tangent surfaces of space curves, cf. \textit{L. P. Eisenhart}, An introduction to differential geometry with use of the tensor calculus. 2nd ed. Princeton: Princeton University Press (1947; Zbl 0033.01801)] can be rolled out onto a plane without stretching, creasing or tearing. For this reason, developable surfaces have various technical and industrial applications. The author's abstract: ``This paper deals with the design of interpolating developable Bézier patches. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for these patches to be free of singular points. From these conditions we deduce simple design criteria. Furthermore, \(G^1\)- and \(G^2\)-continuous connections of these paths will be studied.'' This paper does not deal with the development of the constructed patches; sufficient information about this question can be found in the papers by \textit{G. Gurunathan} and \textit{S. G. Dhande} [Computers Graphics 11, 105--112 (1987; \url{doi:10.1016/0097-8493(87)90024-0})] and by \textit{G. Weiß} and \textit{P. Furtner} [Computers Graphics 12, 39--51 (1988; \url{doi:10.1016/0097-8493(88)90006-4})].
