A continuum is said to be \(k\)-junctioned if it is the inverse limit of graphs having at most \(k\) branch joints, and locally chainable if each of its small subcontinua is chainable. The authors show that every \(k\)- junctioned continuum \(X\) is locally chainable at some point and is either circularly chainable or contains a set \(P\) of cardinality \(k\) such that each subcontinuum of \(X-P\) is chainable. A nondegenerate, homogeneous, circularly chainable continuum is known to be either a pseudo-arc, a solenoid, or a solenoid of pseudo-arcs [\textit{C. L. Hagopian} and \textit{J. T. Rogers jun.}, Houston J. Math. 3, 471-474 (1977; Zbl 0397.54040) and the reviewer, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 89, 163-168 (1983; Zbl 0527.54031)]. The authors show that these are also the only possibilities for continua satisfying their other condition. This extends a known result on tree- like continua [the reviewer, ibid. 82, 470-472 (1981; Zbl 0465.54022)].
