Using the Lyapunov-Schmidt method in bifurcation theory [\textit{S. N. Chow} and \textit{J. K. Hale}, Methods of Bifurcation Theory (1982; Zbl 0487.47039)], the author investigates bifurcations of heteroclinic orbits of diffeomorphisms \(\Phi: \mathbb{R}^ 2\to \mathbb{R}^ 2\), \(\Phi(x,y)=(f(x),g(x,y))\), where \(g(x,0)\equiv0\), \(x\in(-1/2,3/2)\), and \(f\) has fixed points 0, 1, such that \(f'(0)>1\), \(f'(1)<1\), \(f'>0\), \(g_ y(x,0)\neq 0\), and there exists a sequence of points \(\{x_ n\}^{+\infty}_{-\infty}\subset (0,1)\), \(x_{n+1}=f(x_ n)\), \(x_ n\to 1(0)\), if \(n\to\infty(-\infty)\). So \(\Phi\) has the heteroclinic orbit \(\{(x_ n,0)\}^{+\infty}_{-\infty}\), which may be included into the family of heteroclinic orbits for the perturbed mapping. He shows the existence of the corresponding ``Melnikov'' function for this two-dimensional case and describes the simplest possibilities of bifurcations of the set of heteroclinic points in general case.
