A proof of the theorem of Eakin-Nagata (Q1185132)

\textit{Eakin} and the author proved that if \(A\) is a subring of a commutative Noetherian ring \(R\) such that \(R\) is a finitely generated \(A\)-module then \(A\) is Noetherian. The author gives a very short proof using Cohen's theorem (\(A\) is Noetherian if and only if every prime ideal of \(A\) is finitely generated). A different elementary proof has been given by \textit{E. Formanek} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 41, 381-383 (1973; Zbl 0248.13018)].
