Let \(G\) be a quasidisk, \(f=u+iv\) holomorphic in \(G\) such that \(u\) has a continuous extension to \(\overline G\). The author proves: If the error \(E_{n,\Delta}(u,\overline G)\) of approximation of \(u\) by harmonic polynomials of degree \(\leq n\) satisfies \(E_{n,\Delta}(u,\overline G)\leq c_ 1n^{-\alpha}\) for some \(\alpha>0\), then \(f\) has likewise a continuous extension to \(\overline G\), and its error of approximation by algebraic polynomials satisfies \(E_ n(f,\overline G)\leq c_ 2n^{- \alpha}\) with the same \(\alpha\). If \(G=\mathbb{D}\) and \(\alpha\in(0,1)\), this a equivalent to Privalov's theorem. It is shown that \(f\) doesn't need to have a continuous extension to \(\overline G\) if \(\partial G\) is merely a Jordan curve, not a quasicircle.
