Let \(K\) be a field of prime characteristic \(p\) and let \(G\) be a \(p\)- solvable group of order \(p^ am\), \((p,m)=1\). Let \(t(G)\) be the nilpotency index of the group algebra. It is known that \(t(G)\geq a(p- 1)+1\). The author proves that if \(G\) is non-abelian and has a normal \(p\)- subgroup which has a complement which is itself a Frobenius group then \(t(G)=a(p-1)+1\) if and only if certain group-theoretical conditions are met. The result gives a partial converse to a theorem of \textit{K. Motose} on \(M_{p,r}\) groups [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 25, 39-42 (1982; Zbl 0485.16007)].
