The treated oscillator is described by \(\ddot x+k\dot x+x^ 3=B\cos t\). First a brief explanation of the fundamental concepts of discrete dynamical systems is given in relation to nonlinear differential equations of the second order. Then results of the author's survey are brought together to give a view with the aid of analog and digital simulation and the geometric theory of dynamical systems on such phenomena as regular and chaotic motions, coexisting attractors, regular and fractal basin boundaries, local and global bifurcations. A great collection of interesting and useful graphs is given.
