The authors consider the system \[ dU/dt=L_ \mu U+N(\mu,U), \] which is assumed invariant under shifts in the spatial coordinate \(x\), and under reflection symmetry \(x\to-x\), and possessing a fully symmetric steady solution. If it is assumed that instability threshold of this solution occurs at a zero critical wave number, then it is shown that bifurcating time-periodic solutions correspond to the bounded solutions of a second order complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, where the frequency plays the role of an additional parameter. To illustrate this results the authors give a reaction diffusion example.
