The authors continue their study started in \textit{C. K. Chui}, \textit{X. Li} and \textit{J. D. Ward} [Math. Control Signal Syst. 4, 161-175 (1991; Zbl 0724.93012)]. They address infinite-rank systems that correspond to compact Hankel operators \(\Gamma\) and the finite rank approximation \(\Gamma^ n\) obtained by equating to zero all entries in the doubly- infinite matrix for \(\Gamma\) that are below the anti-diagonal of order \(n\). Only operators in the Wiener class --- for which the truncations \(\Gamma^ n\) are known to converge to \(\Gamma\) --- are considered. Their main results are concerned with a) The \(l_ 2\)-convergence rate of the Schmidt pairs of the truncations \(\Gamma^ n\) to the Schmidt pair of the original operator for any element \(\Gamma\) of the Wiener class as \(n\to\infty\), b) The upper bounds for the \(l_ 1\)-rate of convergence as in (a) the upper bounds for the \(L_ \infty\)-norm of the rational symbols of best rank-\(k\) Hankel approximants of \(\Gamma^ n\) to the corresponding rational symbol of best rank-\(k\) Hankel approximant of \(\Gamma\) as \(n\to\infty\) for a special subclass of the Wiener class. This subclass can be viewed as consisting of the bounded operators form \(l_ 2\) to \(l_ 1\). All results are derived under the condition of simplicity of the singular value \(s_ k\) of the given operator \(\Gamma\).
