Let \(R=\bigoplus_{j\geq 0}R_ j\) be a non-negatively graded ring. Then the \(d\)-th Veronese subring of \(R\) is \(R^{(d)}=\bigoplus_{j\geq 0}R_{jd}\). The main result (theorem 3.3) of this paper is the following: Let \(R\) be a noetherian commutative connected naturally graded algebra over a field \(k\) (i.e. \(R_ 0=k\), and \(R\) is generated as a \(k\)- algebra by \(R_ 1)\). Then \(R^{(d)}\) is Golod-large-attached for \(d\gg 0\), with a sequence of \(n-1\) Golod homomorphisms and one large homomorphism. As a consequence the \(k\)-algebra \(\text{Ext}^*_{R^{(d)}}(k,k)\) \((d\gg 0)\) has nice homological properties, e.g. that \(\text{f.gl.}\dim\text{Ext}^*_{R^{(d)}}(k,k)\leq n-1\) (corollary 3.4). The graded ring \(R\) is Golod-large-attached if there is a sequence of epimorphisms, each being Golod or large, starting with a polynomial ring and ending at \(R\). Large homomorphisms and Golod homomorphisms are intended to generalize factoring out by a non-zero divisor of degree 1, respectively of degree \(\geq 2\). The precise definitions of these concepts (in terms of the groups \(\text{Tor}^ R_ *(k,k)\), \(\text{Tor}^ S_ *(k,k)\), \(\text{Tor}^ R_ *(S,k))\) as well as some new properties needed here, are discussed in the first two sections of the paper.
