This paper deals with two-step sixth-order methods for solving numerically special second-order initial value problems. The author develops such explicit methods with minimal phase-lag, i.e., with phase- lag of order eight, ten and twelve. In virtue of the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation on the resonance problem it is shown that the proposed methods yield better approximations than explicit finite- difference methods previously developed by \textit{M. M. Chawla, P. S. Rao}, and \textit{B. Neta} [ibid. 16, No. 2, 233-236 (1986; Zbl 0596.65047)].
