Let \(Gf\) denote the Green potential in the half-space \(D=\{x=(x',x_ n):x'\in\mathbb{R}^{n-1}\), \(x_ n>0\}\) of a non-negative measurable function \(f\) such that the function \(x\mapsto x_ n^ \alpha\{f(x)\}^ q\) is integrable on \(D\). (Here \(q\geq 1\) and \(\alpha\leq 2q-1\).) The author proves several theorems concerning the behaviour of the hyperplane mean \[ M_ p(Gf,y)=\left\{\int_{\mathbb{R}^{n-1}}[Gf(x',y)]^ pdx'\right\}^{1/p}, \] as \(y\to 0+\), where \(p>0\). These generalize earlier work of the reviewer on the growth properties of spherical means of potentials on the unit ball of \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 103, No. 3, 861-869 (1988; Zbl 0672.31005)].
