This book demonstrates the applicability of the software package GLIM to several social-science problems. It contains neither the theory of log- linear/logistic models nor an introduction to the use of GLIM, as it is written for those who have their experience in both directions. In six parts the reader will find over twenty different models and situations where GLIM can be (and was) used. Part 1 begins with one-way frequency tables with simple time dependence, in Part 2 this is connected with causality. Next two parts deal with metric and ordinal variables separately, the other being studied a little bit more in detail. In Part 5, several problems of zero frequencies and incomplete data are studied with applications to typical social-science models. Part 6 deals with four pattern models. In appendices the author offers GLIM commands and macros (for operating system Amiga DOS and GLIM 3.77 Update 2) and data together with programs for all the real-life examples used in the text.
