Let \(p\) be prime, let \(q=p\) if \(p\neq 2\) and \(q=4\) if \(p=2\), and let \({\mathcal O}\) be the ring of integers of a finite extension of \(\mathbb{Q}_ p\). Let \(\kappa\) be a topological generator of \(1+q\mathbb{Z}_ p\) and let \(\varphi(x)=\kappa^ x\) for \(x\in\mathbb{Z}_ p\). Let \(\alpha\) be a \(p\)-adic \({\mathcal O}\)-valued measure on \(\mathbb{Z}_ p\). Define new measures by \(\alpha\circ\varphi(A)=\alpha(\varphi(A))\) and \(\alpha|_ U(A)=\alpha(A\cap U)\) for compact open subsets \(A\) and \(U\) of \(\mathbb{Z}_ p\). The author gives a simple proof that \(\lambda_ p(\alpha\circ\varphi)= (1/q)\lambda_ p(\alpha|_{1+q\mathbb{Z}_ p})\), where \(\lambda_ p\) denotes the Iwasawa \(\lambda\)-invariant of the \(\Gamma\)-transform of a measure. This result was proved previously by \textit{Y. Kida} [Sci. Rep. Kanazawa Univ. 30, 33-38 (1985; Zbl 0595.12010)] in the case \(\kappa=e^ q\) and, with additional hypotheses but with arbitrary \(\kappa\), by \textit{N. Childress} [Manuscr. Math. 64, 359-375 (1989; Zbl 0689.12004)].
