    The author presents various properties of the Bloch mappings \(f:\mathbb{B}\to\mathbb{C}^ n\), where \(\mathbb{B}\) denotes the unit Euclidean ball in \(\mathbb{C}^ n\). In particular, he proves the following results. Let \(f\) be a holomorphic mapping \(\mathbb{B}\to\mathbb{C}^ n\) and let \[ \| f\|_ B:=\sup\{\|(f\circ\varphi)'(0)\|:\;\varphi\in\text{Aut}(\mathbb{B})\}, \] \[ m(f):=\sup\{(1-\| z\|^ 2)\| f'(z)\|:\;z\in\mathbb{B}\}. \] \[ \| f\|_ B=\sqrt{{n+1\over 2}}\sup\{\| f'(z)(X)\|:\;z\in\mathbb{B},\;X\in\mathbb{C}^ n:\;\beta_ \mathbb{B}(z;X)=1\}, \tag{1} \] where \(\beta_ \mathbb{B}\) denotes the Bergman metric for \(\mathbb{B}\). (2) There exists a constant \(C>0\) such that \(m(f)\leq\| f\|_ B\leq Cm(f)\). (3) If \(\| f\|_ 0:=\sup\{(1-\| z\|^ 2)^{n+1/2n}|\text{det} f'(z)|^{1/n}:z\in\mathbb{B}\}=1=\text{det} f'(0)\), then \(\text{Re(det} f'(z))\geq{1-\sqrt{n+2}\| z\|\over(1- {\| z\|\over\sqrt{n+2}})^{n+2}}\) for all \(z\in\mathbb{B}\) with \(\| z\|\leq{2\sqrt{n+2}\over n+3}\). The above estimate is best possible. See also: \textit{Sheng Gong} and \textit{C. H. Fitzgerald} [Chin. Sci. Bull. 37, 18 (1992)].
