    The existence of periodic solutions for Hamiltonian systems of ordinary differential equations (1) \(\dot z=J(H_ z(z,t)+f(t))\) is studied, where \(H: R^{2n}\times R\to R\) is of class \(C^ 1\) and is \(2\pi\)-periodic with respect to \(t\); \(f: R\to R\) is continuous and \(2\pi\)-periodic and \(J=\bigl({0 \atop I_ n} {-I_ n \atop 0}\bigr)\). The following assumptions are made: (H2) \(H(p,q,t)=H(p,q+m,t)\) \(\forall(p,q)\in R^{2n}\), \(\forall m\in Z^ n\), \(\forall t\in R\). Such an \(H\) is called by the author a spatially periodic Hamiltonian. (H3) There are constants \(\mu>1\), \(r>0\) such that \(0<\mu H(p,q,t)\leq p.H_ p(p,q,t)\) \(\forall| p|\geq r\), \(\forall q\in R^ n\), \(\forall t\in R\). (H4) There are constants \(a,b>0\) and \(s\leq\mu\) such that \(| H_ q(p,q,t)|\leq a| p|^ s+b\) \(\forall(p,q)\in R^{2n}\), \(\forall t\in R\). (H4') There are constants \(a,b>0\) and \(s<\mu\) such that \(| H_ z(p,q,t)|\leq a| p|+b\) \(\forall(p,q)\in R^{2n}\), \(\forall t\in R\). (f2) \(f_ 0(t)dt=0\), \((f(t)=(f_ p(t),f_ q(t)))\). Two theorems are proved. Theorem 1. Suppose \(f=0\) and \(H\) satisfies (H2)--(H4). Then the system \(\dot z=JH_ z(z,t)\) possesses at least \(n+1\) \(2\pi\)-periodic solutions. --- Theorem 2. Suppose \(f\) satisfies (f2) and \(H\) satisfies (H2), (H3), (H4'). Then the system (1) possesses at least \(n+1\) \(2\pi\)-periodic solutions.
