Inequalities for singular values and traces (Q1188422)

A generalization of a result concerning the traces of matrices is investigated. A formula that involves sums of singular values is obtained. This fact gives a matrix version of Minkowski's inequality and generalizes a result of \textit{D. Chen} [Chin. Ann. Math., Ser. A11, No. 1, 128-132 (1990; Zbl 0701.15014)]. An extension and a generalized inequality concerning sums and products of singular values and traces are given. Finally a generalization of Hölders inequality and certain mean inequalities are also presented.
