This paper deal with the problem of linearization for control systems that involve one or more components with discontinuous input-output characteristics. The authors assume that there is only one such component, or that ones are working locally, in a region where only one of those components is relevant. The basic type of discontinuity considered is a jump or sign-like function, or some combination of one component with such nonlinearity with linear elements. The authors formulate and solve the problem that allows us to obtain optimal feedback compensation of nonlinearities, assuming additive noise in the measurements.
