This paper studies the uniqueness problem for the static Einstein equations for non-rotating perfect-fluid source satisfying the barotropic equations of state, \(\rho(p).\) This is motivated by the conjecture that such solutions must be spherically symmetric and unique. The result given here is that if \(\rho(p)\) satisfies a certain differential identity, and if there is a solution which is spherically symmetric, then it is unique, up to given surface potential. This generalizes a result of \textit{A. K. M. Masood-ul-Alam} [Classical Quantum Gravity 5, 409-421 (1988)].
