In the book nonstandard analysis is systematically applied to the study of fractals. The first half of the book contains some preliminary information on nonstandard analysis and develops the nonstandard theory of hyperspaces. It includes short nonstandard proofs of many famous results (so the Blaschke selection theorem or the compactness of the space of compact sets \({\mathcal K} X\) of the setting space \(X\)). This technique is applied to the subsequent study of Hutchinson's ``invariant sets''. The author introduces also the concept of ``view''. Roughly speaking, a ``view'' of a subset \(A\) of a given space \(X\) consists of a region \(X\) together with the part of \(A\) lying within this region. Using this concept a new notion of self-similarity is introduced and explored. The second fractal notion is defined with the aid of a natural topology on the set of views. This notion is an interpretation of the idea that as we ``zoom in'' on a certain point we see detail beyond detail (``visual fractality''). The book touches also other view-related notions and suggests topics for further investigations.
