Inverse theorems for multidimensional Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators in \(L_ p\) (Q1191741)

The author continues with his investigations in the field that he took up for his earlier two papers: Approximation Theory Appl. 6, No. 2, 87-100 (1990; Zbl 0709.41016) and ibid. 6, No. 4, 25-39 (1990; Zbl 0724.41018). Here he has adopted the study of the multidimensional Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators in \({\mathcal L}_ p\) (\(1\leq p<\infty\)) on a simplex. The two main theorems of the paper deal with the characterization of the rate of approximation by means of \(k\)-functionals and the smoothness of the functions they approximate.
