The mathematical problem considered in the present paper describes the hydration of tricalcium silicate \((Ca_ 3S)\), i.e. the chemical reaction and diffusion of water through an ever-thickening spherical hydrate layer around the \(Ca_ 3S\)-particle. The mathematical model consists of a one- phase, one-dimensional, classically formulated Stefan-like problem with two-free boundaries, where one of the boundaries corresponds to the solid-liquid interface. The other moving free boundary is coupled with this interface. The existence of a unique classical solution of this problem was established by \textit{A. Rauhoeft} [Proc. 5th Reg. Sci. Sess., ZagaĆ/Pol. 1985, Sect.: Differential equations, 65-73 (1986; Zbl 0662.35125)]. The object of the present note is to prove the stability of the two free boundaries with respect to the initial data and the coefficients. The proof uses some transformations, some results from \textit{A. Fasano} and \textit{M. Primicerio} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 72, 247-273 (1979; Zbl 0421.35080)] and some properties of Green's function for the parabolic equation as well as Gronwall's lemma.
