The authors discuss bifurcation diagrams in \((u,\lambda)\)-plane for the nonlinear boundary value problem \(-u_{tt}''=\lambda u(1-u) (u-a)\) for \(0<t<1\), \(u(0)=b =u(1)\), \(0<b\), \(a<1\), \(\lambda\)-real. They compare their results with the results of \textit{J. Smoller} and \textit{A. Wasserman} [J. Differ. Equations 39, 269-290 (1981; Zbl 0446.34018)].
