Let (1) \(u_ t(x,t)=-L_ x u(x,t)\) (\(L_ x=-\partial^ 2/\partial x^ 2+q(x)\)) the perturbed heat equation, where \(L_ x\) is the Sturm- Liouville differential operator with \(q(x)\) continuous. The \(W\)-transform of \(\psi(y)\in L^ 2(0,\infty)\) is defined by (2) \(\widetilde\psi(x)=\int_ 0^ \infty \psi(y)g(x,y;1)dy\), where \(g(x,y;t)\) is a function related to the fundamental solution of the equation (1). The paper deals with an inversion formula of a \(W\)- transform (2). Three examples are discussed too.
