\textit{L. P. Belluce} [Can. J. Math. 38, 1356-1379 (1986; Zbl 0625.03009)] defined a functor, that we denote by \(\beta\), from the category of MV- algebras to the category of bounded distributive lattices, in such a way that for each MV-algebra \(A\), the prime ideals of the lattice \(\beta(A)\) coincide with the prime ideals of the algebra \(A\). Our aim in the first part of this paper is to show that the construction of \(\beta\), as well as many of its properties, can be very naturally explained in the context of the duality between bounded distributive lattices and some classes of ordered topological spaces developed by Priestley. In the second part, we show that Post algebras are in the range of \(\beta\).
