This paper investigates the weak or strong convergence of sequences in the space \(L^ 1(\Omega,\mu;E)\). The theory of Young measure is often used in this study but other methods, based on truncation, are employed in the present paper. The methods allow results made under stringent compactness assumptions to be extended to certain subsets of \(L^ 1\) such as `compactly uniformly integrable' or subsets defined in terms of `tightness'.
