The notion of a quasi-symmetric Siegel domain was introduced by Satake in an algebraic manner. D'Atri and the reviewer characterized quasi- symmetric domains by geometric properties. They also showed that every quasi-symmetric Siegel domain has nonpositive holomorphic bisectional curvature relative to its Bergman metric. It is an open problem whether the converse of this statement also holds. The paper under review addresses this question and shows that a homogeneous Siegel domain \(D\) with nonpositive holomorphic bisectional curvature relative to its Bergman metric is quasi-symmetric if \(D\) satisfies one of the following conditions: (1) The holomorphic sectional curvature restricted to a certain submanifold of \(D\) satisfies a pinching condition; (2) \(D\) is a domain over a dual square cone (in the sense of Xu); (3) rank \(D\leq 3\); (4) \(\dim D\leq 10\).
