Let \(K\subset R^ d\) be a compact, convex set and \({\mathcal T}(K)\) the family of all its translates. Then the Helly dimension \(\text{him} {\mathcal T}(K)\) of \({\mathcal T}(K)\) is by definition the smallest integer \(m\geq 0\) such that for every collection \(\{K_ i\}^ s_{i=1}\subset{\mathcal T}(K)\), if every nonempty intersection of \({\mathcal T}(K)\) of size at most \(m+1\) has a nonempty intersection, then the collection itself has a nonempty intersection. By Helly's theorem \(m\leq d\) and an early result of Szökefalvi-Nagy says that if \(\text{him} {\mathcal T}(K)=1\) then \(K\) is a parallelotope. The author, who originated the study of Helly's dimension of families of convex sets, in this paper obtains results which enable him to give a listing of all convex, compact bodies in \(R^ d\) with Helly dimension equal to 2.
