    To solve \(\varepsilon^ 2u''+xa(x)u'-b(x)u=f(x)\), \(-1<x<1\), with Dirichlet boundary conditions the author constructs a difference scheme using a special mesh \(x_ i=x(ih)\) with \(x(t)=x_ 1(t), 0\leq t\leq 1\), and \(= -x_ 1(-t)\), \(-1\leq x<0\), where \(x_ 1(t)=(\varepsilon^ \alpha+pt)^{1/\alpha}-\varepsilon\), \(p=(1+\varepsilon)^ \alpha- \varepsilon\) with a special \(\alpha\). He proves the uniform convergence with order two. Numerical examples supply the paper.
