The authors consider systems of orthogonal polynomials similar to those of Laguerre, Lengendre, and Jacobi but with respect to an indefinite weight function. Mingarelli, Krall, and Littlejohn have shown that in general these arise as the eigenelements of a selfadjoint operator in a Pontrjagin space and form a complete orthogonal system. Exceptions arise when any of the eigenelements have norm zero. The authors demonstrate how to find a complete orthogonal system in these exceptional cases by calculating associated elements for the eigenelements of norm zero. In certain simple situations, these associated elements are explicitly calculated.
