The authors propose a modification of FitzHugh-Nagumo's model of nerve pulse transmission in which the equation for the recovery variable is replaced by another, more general equation, of the so-called rate type, used in viscoelasticity. So to say, the recovery variable is identified with the stress and the voltage is identified with the strain (viscoelasticity terms). Further, using small parameter techniques, the so obtained system of equations is simplified and later on numerically solved in search of travelling wave solutions. As a whole, the paper leaves the impression of being written too fast and incomplete.
