This paper studies a general measure of relative importance of components in a system. The measure is obtained by arranging the components according to the size of the reduced yield due to the scale variation of the life-time distribution of each component. The authors derived some results useful in comparison of components. They obtained some simple and crude bounds on the importance measure of a component. This paper is simple, interesting and of practical importance.
