    The notion of random stopping set is introduced. This may be viewed as a concept to provide the analogue of a stopping time for the observation of a random field. Various measurability results are obtained and it is shown that absolute continuity of measures carries over to the \(\sigma\)- fields generated by such random stopping sets.
