Consider a functional delay differential equation \(\dot x=f(x_ t)\) with infinite delay where \(f\) is a function defined on a linear space \(X\) of functions \(\varphi:(-\infty,0]\to\mathbb{R}^ n\). The purpose of the paper is to present some axioms and assumptions on \(f\) and \(X\) in order to establish a strongly monotone solution operator. This is done in Section 2 which closes with some examples where the theory applies. The global dynamics of the solutions and some spectral information are presented in Section 3 where the results are actually implied by some known ones. Finally in Section 4 a model of the so called schistosomiasis japonicum is investigated. Under some conditions an eventually strongly monotone semiflow is defined and the convergence as well as the existence of heteroclinic orbits are investigated.
