An algorithm for higher order finite difference schemes to nonlinear differential equations with the property that the numerical scheme has a group structure similar to the original problem is presented. This avoids separate verification of stability of the numerical scheme which may be very complex for usual analysis. The algorithm is tried in the case of one-dimensional nonlinear wave and diffusion equations. Numerical results indicate that further research is necessary for the optimal choice of invariant methods.
