The aim of the paper is to construct the exact solution of a second-order differential-difference system in an explicit and computable way, avoiding the increase of the problem dimension and the determination of roots of transcendental equations. The approach is based on the concept of co-solution of certain associated algebraic matrix equation. The concept of co-solution permits to solve initial-value problems for second-order differential equations without considering an extended first-order system. Some later results are adapted in accordance with the problem. An integral operator and some of its useful properties are given in order to be applied finally to the construction of the solution of the system. A theorem establishes the formula of the explicit solution.
