The authors start with a brief statement on the surface invariants, which Davini introduced to state the dislocational defects in crystals. Those surface invariants are given as misfit associated with the construction of the image surface by mapping piece by piece from the real one in the crystal. This is similar to the Burgers vector which is the misfit associated with the mapping of a Burgers circuit. The existence theorem of those image surfaces is given from a local, as well as global, points of view. It is shown that a closed image surface can be constructed in the case of pure screw dislocations, and can not in the presence of edge dislocations.
