On one-parameter subgroups in a class of topological groups (Q1197414)

Following \textit{P. Enflo}, the author calls a topological group an \(L\)- group if its left multiplication is linear; the precise definition can be found in [Math. Scand. 24, 195-207 (1969; Zbl 0205.328)]. Three questions for \(L\)-groups are considered in the paper: (1) Is there a unique local one-parameter subgroup in every direction from the unity? (2) Does every element near unity lie on a unique local one-parameter subgroup? (3) Is a local one-parameter subgroup necessarily differentiable? It is well-known that for Lie groups the answer to all these questions is ``yes''. In some special cases the author answers the first question for \(L\)-groups affirmatively, and the second and the third ones negatively. A significant attention in paid to two particular examples of \(L\)-groups that appeared first in the above paper of Enflo.
