For a cylindrical domain \textit{F. Nicolosi} has established [Boll. Un. Mat. Ital., IV. Ser. 11, 354-358 (1975; Zbl 0306.35050)] a generalized maximum principle for subsolutions of a second order linear parabolic equation. A result of the same nature for elliptic equations has been established by \textit{M. G. Platone Garroni} [Boll. Un. Mat. Ital., IV. Ser. 8, 278-285 (1973; Zbl 0268.35030)] using a different technique. The aim of this paper is to prove a generalized maximum principle for weak subsolutions of second order linear degenerate parabolic equations in divergence form, with discontinuous coefficients.
