The authors consider the problem of existence and stability properties of bounded solutions to a system of O.D.E. where a small real parameter \(\varepsilon\) multiplies the derivatives. Specifically, consider a system \(\dot\xi=f(\xi,\eta)+\varepsilon h_ 1(t,\xi,\eta,\mu,\varepsilon)\), \(\varepsilon\dot\eta=g(\xi,\eta)+\varepsilon h_ 2(t,\xi,\eta,\mu,\varepsilon)\), where \((\xi,\eta)\in\mathbb{R}^{n_ 1+n_ 2}\), \(\mu\in\mathbb{R}\), \(f\), \(g\), \(h_ 1\), \(h_ 2\) are sufficiently smooth bounded functions, \(g(\xi,0)=0\), \(D_ 2 g(\xi,0)\) has no eigenvalues with zero real parts, and the ``degenerate system'' \(\dot\xi=f(\xi,0)\) has a bounded solution \(u(t)\) such that the variational system \(\dot\xi=D_ 1f(u(t),0)\xi\) has an exponential dichotomy on \(R_ +\) and \(R_ -\).
