Consider a \(K\)-type interacting Markovian branching particle system whose domain is the lattice \(Z^ d\). A lattice point can be occupied by at most one particle. Particles wait for a random amount of time to either die or split in two. When a particle dies, it disappears from the system and its location becomes empty. When the particle splits into two, one of the offsprings stays at the site of the parent and the other then occupies one of the \(2d\) nearest neighbour sites, according to a stochastic law. Differential equations are derived for \(K=1\) and \(K=2\). For the one-type system, the equations are in terms of the moments of the boundary counts and particle counts. In the two type system, certain neighbourhood statistics are involved as well. The results are given for the neighbourhoods defined by the smallest Euclidean distance. The authors note that larger (but finite) nearest neighbourhoods can be considered but yield more complicated results.
