Using the concept of damage, the author considers different approaches to the definition of the limiting plastic deformation -- that corresponds to the exhaustion of the plasticity resource -- in a material subjected to an electric current. The paper relies on experimental facts concerning the diminition of damage (or, equivalently, the increase of plasticity resource) due to the action of the electric current. The model yields that the effect of electroplasticity is more pronounced under elongation than under torsion, which is in accordance with experimental data. Two- and three-dimensional cases are investigated and compared to each other, and it is found that two-dimensional problems are suitable for the estimation of the exhaustion of plasticity resource.
