In the theory of classical orthogonal polynomials, the Christoffel- Darboux formula expresses the projection operator on the space of polynomials of a certain degree. In this paper the formalism is applied to certain orthogonal polynomials in the weighted unit ball of \(n\)- dimensions. Their construction is based on the use of the Dirac operator \(\partial_ x\), which is a square root of the Laplacian, and they take values in a Clifford algebra. The weight function used is \((1-r^ 2)^{\alpha}\), \(\alpha>-1\). Due to the specific construction of the polynomials, the resulting functions represent not the projection operator on the space of polynomials of a certain degree in \(n\)-variables, but on a certain subset. They can be used to obtain the reproducing kernels for the null- spaces of \(\partial_ x^ t\), and since \(\partial_ x^{2t}=(- \Delta)^ t\), for polyharmonic functions. This is worked out in detail for the weight function with \(\alpha=0\), where a series representation and an integral representation in terms of the Poisson kernel is obtained. The construction can be generalized to the case \(\alpha\neq 0\), and the limiting Hermite case (with domain \(R^ n\) and weight function \(\exp(-r^ 2/2)\)).
