We discuss the scattering of acoustic wave in an ocean with elastic- porous sediment. A Biot model is adopted. We present the Green's function in the water column using the Fourier transform, find a normal mode expansion for the Green's function and show that only a finite number of modes propagate. Hence we can define the propagating far-field pattern vector as for the rigid bottom case.
