Let \(x_ k^{(n)}=\cos{{(2k-1)\pi} \over 2n}\), \(k=1,2,\dots,n\) be the interpolation knots.Let \(S_{n,1}(f,x)\) be the polynomial of \((4n+3)\)th degree uniquely determined by the conditions \(S_{n,1}(f,x_ k)=f(x_ k)\), \(S_{n,1}^{(i)}(f,x_ k)=0\), \(i=1,2,3\); \(S_{n,1}(f,\pm1)=f(\pm 1)\), \(S_{n,1}(f,\pm 1)=0\) where the function \(f\) is continuous with right derivative in \(-1\) and left derivative in \(+1\). The author proves that the interpolation process converges in the metric \(L_ p\) if and only if \(f'(-1)=f'(1)=0\). Another theorem is proved concerning the convergence of the interpolation process regarding the continuous functions for which there exist the finite derivatives \(f'(\mp 1)\) and the limits \(\lim_{n\to -1}(f(x)-f(-1))/(x+1)^ 2\), \(\lim_{n\to+1}(f(x)-f(1))/(x-1)^ 2\).
