      The authors show the existence and the uniqueness of a weak solution of the problem: \[ \begin{aligned} P_ \varepsilon(u,z) & \equiv u_ t(x,t)- \varepsilon u_{xx} (x,t) + z'(t) u_ x(x,t)+G(x,t,z(t))u(x,t) \\ & =F(x,t,z) \text{ in } \mathbb{R} \times ]0,t[,\tag{1}\end{aligned} \] \[ (2) \quad u(x,0)=u_ 0(x),\qquad \;(3) \quad z(t)=L(\int_{\mathbb{R}} w(x)u(x,t) dx) \] where the data \(u_ 0,F,G\) are less regular than in previous papers [see, for instance, \textit{P. Colli}, \textit{V. Comincioli}, \textit{G. Naldi} and \textit{A. Torelli}, Appl. Math. Optimization 22, No. 1, 1-26 (1990; Zbl 0739.73028)]. Then they pass to the limit as \(\varepsilon\) goes to zero and show a new existence and uniqueness result for the problem \(P_ 0(u,z)=F(x,t,z(t))\), associated with (1) and (2).
