So-called ``generalized numerical representations'' are used to extend some of the results of utility theory regarding ordered and semiordered preferences. The differences between the proposed framework and the traditional utility theory are especially significant when the set of alternatives is infinite. A unified geometric approach which helps to visualize various preference relations is developed on the basis of these results.
