Free products with amalgamation of semigroups (Q1206781)

In an earlier paper [J. Algebra 141, No. 1, 158-161 (1991; Zbl 0745.20051)] the author gave a new proof of the embeddability of a semigroup amalgam whose core is unitary, by using the concept of a presemigroup. In the present paper, the author again studies the partial groupoid determined by a semigroup amalgam. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for this partial groupoid to be a presemigroup (using the notion of a quasi-unitary subsemigroup), or to be an independent partial semigroup.
