The nonlinear degenerate parabolic equation \(\partial u/\partial t = \partial/\partial x(u^ m x^ n\partial u/\partial x)\) is solved on the unbounded domain \(t > 0\) and \(0 < x < +\infty\). The transformation on a bounded domain is used. Then a finite difference scheme of the Crank- Nicolson type is proposed together with a Newton-type iteration procedure to solve nonlinear systems created at each time level. Numerical results are compared with the analytical solution.
